Error 1607: Unable to install InstallShield Scripting RuntimeOR
The wizard was interrupted before the Blackberry Desktop Software could be completely installed. Your system has not been modified. To complete installation at another time, please run setup again.ResolutionResolution
There is more than one resolution for this cause. Perform the following resolutions until the problem is resolved.
- Verify that the Windows Installer service is started and is configured for manual startup.
- Rename the InstallShield folder, then reinstall the InstallShield software.
- Edit your system environment variables.
- Disable your Startup Items.
- Install Microsoft Windows Script 5.6
- Restart the computer.
Verify that the Windows Installer service is started and is configured for manual startup.
- Open Control Panel and double-click the Administrative Tools icon.
- Double-click the Services icon. The Services window appears.
- In the right pane, scroll to the bottom of the services list and double-click the Windows Installer service. The Windows Installer Properties window appears as shown below.
- Verify that the Startup type drop-down list displays Manual.
- Verify that the Service status displays Started. If it displays Stopped, click the Start button.
- Click OK to save your changes and close the window.
- Close the Services window.
- Repeat the installation procedure for the BlackBerry Desktop Software. If the error appears again, continue to Resolution 2.
Rename the InstallShield folder, then reinstall the InstallShield software.
- Open Windows Explorer and go to C:\Program Files\Common Files
- Right-click the InstallShield folder and select Rename.
- Rename the folder InstallShield_old.
- Reinstall the InstallShield software.
- Repeat the installation procedure for the BlackBerry Desktop Software. If the error appears again, continue to Resolution 3.
Edit your system environment variables.
Warning: Modifying the computer environment variables can result in unexpected system behavior. Document the existing values prior to implementing any changes.
- Open Windows Explorer and create a new folder in the C:\ drive called TEMP2.
- Open the Control Panel and double-click the System icon. The System Properties window appears.
- Click the Advanced tab, then Environmental Variables. The Environmental Variables window appears.
- In the User Variables list, select TEMP and click Edit. The Edit User Variable dialog box appears.
- In the Variable Value field, change the file path to C:\TEMP2, then click OK.
- In the User Variables list, select TMP and click Edit.
- In the Variable Value field, change the file path to C:\TEMP2, then click OK.
- In the Environmental Variables window, click OK.
- In the System Properties window, click Apply and OK.
- Repeat the installation procedure for the BlackBerry Desktop Software.
To disable all programs that are started when the Windows user account logs in, use the System Configuration Utility.
- Click the Start Button and select the Run command.
- Type MSConfig in the Open field and then click OK.
- In the window that appears, on the General tab, select Selective Startup and clear Load Startup Items. Click Apply and OK.
- Restart the computer and repeat the installation procedure for the BlackBerry Desktop Software.
- Install Microsoft Windows Script 5.6.
- Go to the Microsoft Downloads site at http://msdn.microsoft.com/downloads/.
- Search for the Windows Script 5.6 download. Then, download the Windows Script 5.6 for the correct Windows version.
- Install the Windows Script. Then, restart the computer.
- Repeat the installation procedure for the BlackBerry Desktop Software.
Restart the computer. Then, restart the installation of the BlackBerry Desktop Software.
